Timeless

This painting comes from its 4th exhibition.
If you are collector you know that the value of an art piece increases with every show to audience. The more people laid their eyes on it, the more it is worth.
Art is something that builds value with time, not like a blouse we buy and throw after few uses.
It can take weeks, months to finish a piece of mine.
Some find it expensive, but it is quite undervalued for the amount of time and skills put in it. It starts with idea, visualisation, inspiration, love. It gets shape in digital drafts and versions, playing with light and shapes. And after many iterations, all impressions grow in my mind into something that excites me and I can’t wait to paint it.

The process itself is long and demanding, sometimes it gets difficult to keep going, when the soul is bothered. Sometimes the process heals and brings light back in me. It can be calm and rewarding or challenging roller-coaster, depending on what life reflects on it. But care, attention, passion always lead the way.

I love precision, you don’t have to be careless to be an artist, remember the stunning life-like Mickelangelo sculptures.

My works are not simple, they are not made with ease, they are layered and complicated as I am. Every one is a learning process, learning life, learning myself.

Colors are carefully selected and guided to tell a story. It takes layers to find the right nuance and blending. Watercolor works with me into magical transitions, but its free spirit sometimes punishes my desire to control it. We always find the balance at the end.
Every piece is carefully crafted and gets special attention. It takes many hours of work, refining and inspiration. It takes the right time, the right mood to work on every part so it can become one whole and carries a message and soul. It can travel many times and be seen by many people until it finds the one who would truly appreciate everything that it is and deserves to own it. Until then many would see it and it might bring them beauty, love and excitement, but it won’t be meant for them to have it.

The right one at the right time

My new inspiration is one girl I have seen and heard for the first time few weeks ago. It was instant love.

Her name is Cornelia Jakobs and she is representing Sweden on Eurovision song contest.

Words in her song brought me back to tough moment in my life, which after some years turned into a blessing. We often want things to happen right now or how we imagine them, but we are not ready or something better for us is meant to be.

Life is beautiful when you fill your heart with love and gratitude and just trust in it.

She stole my heart and I wish her all the best.

Here are some moments of my Art evening in Gothenburg where I presented Cornelia’s portrait for the first time. I hope you enjoy them.

Working out of your comfort zone

Today I’ve decided to work from coffee shop at Avenyn. For me painting is very intimate experience and being watched while I am working causes me discomfort and distraction.

Something changed lately and made me try different ways to reach what is hidden deep inside me. Stepping out of my comfort zone at the right time, before making any big life decisions, brought me many answers. Like a deep breath of fresh air that helps you see where you really are from different perspective.

How often do you feel need to drastically change your life? And you change it, escape from your current reality once, and then again, and again.

You keep running until one day you are standing in front of this urge for change again. But then you realise that you love what you have and you don’t want to lose it.

You take your time and sit with yourself. And you realise that what you are running from is inside you. Distraction and excitement from the changes always fade away with time and then it’s time to start mindfully choose your life, every single day. To work against your autopilot, to put efforts. To keep taking care and giving, without thinking too much “But what about me?”. And suddenly you discover that the whole world resonate you and start giving you back.

Do you often get out of your comfort zone? What this experience brings you? Stress, confusion and difficulties to make decisions? Or it excites you, wakes you up and makes you curious for the world around you?

I wish you bright and warm holiday season!

Back to the drawing table

Hi everyone,

Summer is over and fall comes with a little bit of sadness and nostalgy, but also carries excitement of a new beginning. I hope you charged yourself with sun and positive emotions and start the new season with energy and smile.

After quite busy summer, organising exhibition, moving to another country and of course some great time with friends and flying my paraglider, I have new projects coming this fall.

Recently I got proposal to organise art classes here in Gothenburg and I accepted. It was idea I had for some time, but now I found the right people to help me turn it into reality. I often get questions about my style and technique and I realised that this world crisis is good time to help others enjoy their creativity and help myself adapt to my new country by meeting like-minded people.

Teaching is not new for me and I know how to take someone to the next level for short time. Years of education and practicing visual arts and design helped me systemise the essentials. They can save years of struggle and wandering for people who just start this journey.

Do you want to be able to sketch realistic face in no time? Do you want to know how to turn this sketch into stunning powerful abstract work that carries your unique style? I will teach you.

Classes are starting in October, only weekends. Local is in Gothenburg centre. For everyone’s health and safety, seats are limited.

Send a mail to Artbykalina@gmail.com to save your spot.

“Set me free” 30×30

Two more days to see three of my rare acrylic creations at RiverCity Gallery, Gothenburg. They are part of collection “Set me free” dedicated to autencity. Motiv is the timeless and my ever favourite – woman body.

How often do we dare to strip our soul naked? We try so hard to be accepted, but not to be understood. We expose our bodies with ease, but hide our true feelings. We are unique and that is gift, so speak your mind and be.
